Microsoft Tightens Restrictions for Windows 10 Users on Microsoft 365

Microsoft has announced new limitations for Windows 10 users running Microsoft 365 apps (formerly Office 365), further encouraging migration to Windows 11.

Key points to note:

  • End of Support for Feature Updates:
Microsoft 365 apps on Windows 10 will no longer receive feature updates after Version 2608, scheduled for release in August 2026.
  • Security Updates Continue Until 2028:
Security updates will still be provided until October 10, 2028, but these will not include new functionality.
  • AI-Powered Tools Reserved for Windows 11:
Microsoft confirmed that new features, such as AI-powered productivity tools, will only be available to Windows 11 users.

What this means for you:

If you’re using Windows 10, you’ll continue to receive security protections, but you will miss out on the latest features and innovations in Microsoft 365. To stay ahead and take advantage of the newest tools, Microsoft recommends upgrading to Windows 11.
